Using Your CMMS on Tablet PCs

The rapid evolution of technology now allows PMC and iMaint to wholly function on the tablet PCs. Tablet PCs have the advantages of a handheld device – mobility, ease-of-use, real-time data entry – combined with the robust functionality of a desktop system.

Tablet PCs run the same software as a Windows desktop or laptop computer, including PMC, iMaint and iMaint Fleet. Using wireless network connectivity, tablet PCs allow users to enter CMMS data into the system while on the floor, in the parts crib, or performing vehicle maintenance. No more remembering – or “jotting down”- info to enter when returning to a workstation. The Tablet PC allows complete access “in the field” and setting up the computer just like a desktop when returning to the office. With an available docking station, many tablet PCs can work with standard keyboards, mice, printers, speakers, and networks.

According to Carol Owens, President of DPSI, “The ability to run our CMMS/EAM software on tablet PCs provides maintenance professionals increased mobility and quicker access to information that is crucial. We are very excited to be able to offer this option to our customers.”
